Cozy Yarn Pumpkin Wreath
The idea
A wire pumpkin wreath form has been sitting in my craft bin for a while, and I finally had enough yarn left over from other projects to wrap it properly. Everything except the yarn and glue gun came from Dollar Tree.
Materials
- Wire pumpkin wreath form (Dollar Tree)
- Chunky cream yarn (Bernat Blanket), for wrapping the frame
- A second variegated yarn, for texture in a few spots
- Hot glue gun
- Dollar Tree fall floral pick (orange gerbera daisies, cattails, mini pumpkins, leaves)
- Wired ribbon, for the bow
What I did
Starting at the hanger loop, I wrapped each wire rib of the frame tightly with the cream yarn, tucking the tail under a few wraps to secure it instead of tying a knot. I swapped in the variegated yarn for one rib near the middle to break up the texture a little, then went back to cream for the rest.
Once the whole frame was wrapped, I hot-glued the floral pick to one side near the top of the pumpkin, then made a multi-loop bow from the ribbon and glued it right at the base of the florals to anchor the arrangement. The existing hanger loop on the frame did the rest of the work.
Result
A soft, textured wreath for well under $10 since the yarn was already on hand. If you're starting from scratch, one skein of chunky yarn is usually enough for a wreath this size — buy a second only if you want a contrast section like I did.
