DIY Sock Gnome: An Easy No-Sew Gnome Craft Under $10
The idea
These sock gnomes cost me less than $10 and took about 30 minutes. A stuffed sock makes the body, faux fur makes the beard, and a red velvet hat with a little bell on top finishes them off. Almost everything came from Dollar Tree, and there's no sewing at all, just scissors and hot glue.
The sock, the stuffing and the twine are the same Dollarama supplies I used for the No-Sew Sock Pumpkin, so if you already made one, you probably have most of what you need.

Materials
- A sock, stuffing and twine from Dollarama (the same supplies as the Sock Pumpkin)
- Faux fur, for the beard (Dollar Tree)
- Red velvet, for the hat (Dollar Tree)
- Wood beads, for the nose (Dollar Tree)
- Bells, for the hat topper (Dollar Tree)
- Berry picks, for the hat decor (Dollar Tree)
- Craft paper (I used black), for the hat cone
- Scissors and a hot glue gun
What we did
Step 1: Cut the sock and stuff it
Cut the sock about a third of the way up from the toes. Fill the toe section with stuffing, then tie it off with twine.
Step 2: Add the beard
Cut the faux fur into a triangle and hot glue it onto the sock for the beard.
Step 3: Make the hat
Roll a piece of craft paper (I used black) into a cone and glue it closed. Then hot glue the red velvet onto the craft paper cone.
Step 4: Decorate the hat
Add your decor to the hat. I put a bell on the top and a couple of berries at the front.
Step 5: Add the nose
Hot glue a wood bead onto the beard for the nose.
Step 6: Glue the hat on
Hot glue the hat onto the sock, and your gnome is done.
Result
A cute little gnome made for less than $10, in about 30 minutes, with a stuffed sock, a faux fur beard and a velvet hat. Make a few and set them out for the holidays.
